The New Zealand Universities Academic Audit Unit web page has three primary functions:

• to provide information about audit processes, the current cycle, and good practice.
• to introduce the Unit and its history, and New Zealand's approach to academic audit in Universities.
• to provide access to reports and other public documents.

We will regularly review our web presence to keep it up to date and to respond to suggestions from our communities of interest. The most recent changes will be indicated in the notice area on this page.

Appointment of a new Director

The Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Jan Cameron as the new Director of the Unit. Dr Cameron will replace John Jennings who is retiring after having very capably led the Unit since 2002.

Dr Cameron is currently Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the University of Canterbury. Trained as a Sociologist, she has substantial management experience serving a period as Dean of Arts. Her recent responsibilities at Canterbury have included the Academic Quality Assurance Unit and the University Centre for Teaching and Learning; she has managed the quality assurance and audit processes over a cycle of two academic audits. Jan has extensive national experience of academic audit, programme approval and accreditation and has served for many years on the Committee for University Academic Programmes of the New Zealand Vice-Chancellors’ Committee (NZVCC) and as the NZVCC representative on the Inter-Institutional Quality Assurance Bodies Consultative Group.

Dr Cameron will take up the position at the beginning of March 2010.
